More than just a way of making a story easy to follow, a great edit can completely change the way it’s told, and even alter the story itself. However, when it comes to award-winning work, there is often contention over what it is that defines a great edit – is it fast, dexterous, “cutty” work that deserves to be celebrated, or work that absorbs the viewer, lets the story suck us in and keeps its technical flourishes to a minimum? Is the answer somewhere in the middle or nowhere near either?

To discuss this, Cut+Run is bringing together a panel of editors from some of London’s top edit houses. The experts will talk about their favourite editing work, from film to advertising, cutting through the technical aspects and giving the audience an editor’s eye view into one of the most vital parts of the storytelling process.

Hosted by Little Black Book editor-in-chief Laura Swinton, “Cut Out the Bad Bits” takes place at this year’s Kinsale Sharks festival in Kinsale, Co. Cork, Ireland. The event will be held on Friday 28th September at 12:45pm in the Trident Hotel.
